There are several restricted foods for diabetics which are simple carbohydrates food, high fat food and high sodium food. Besides those restricted foods, diabetics also need to avoid alcohol too. Many dietitians put simple carbohydrates as one of the most restricted foods for diabetics. It is highly recommended for diabetics not to consume any simple carbohydrates because they can easily and directly increase the blood sugar level once diabetics eat them.
Several foods that contain simple carbohydrates are candy, jam, honey, white rice, soft drink, white flour, and corn syrup. To gain energy, it is good for diabetics to eat brown rice instead of white rice, whole-grain bread instead of white bread and steel-cut oats instead of instant oatmeal, sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes.
There are also restricted foods for diabetics at snack session. It is better to eat brand muffin instead of pastry, pie, and croissant and for the lunch it is good to pack a box of fruits and vegetables but avoid the sweet fruits such as pineapple, grapes, mango, banana, and custard. Diabetics also need to avoid using too much sodium in cooking. It is good to use fresh spices or dried herbs instead of artificial flavors enhancers.
